Professional Learning Programs
We have three programs for Community Languages teachers running face-to-face and/or online. The Foundation program gives you the skills for teaching in Australia; the Advanced gives high level planning and teaching skills, and the Leadership and Management Programs are for school principals, executive or management committee. Foundation Program
The Foundation is a 60-hour professional-learning program for teachers working in Community Languages Schools.
Advanced Program
The Advanced is a 60-hour program for community languages schools teachers and those who have completed the Foundation.
Governance and Management
The Governance and Management Program is a 24 hour program for community language school principals, aspiring principals and members of school management committees. Participants will learn about the role of a principal in a community language school, planning and policy making, employing and managing staff, legal and financial management and how to promote your community language school.
Curriculum Leadership
The Curriculum Leadership program is a 15 hour program for community language school teachers who have completed the SICLE Advanced professional learning program. Participants will learn about different language teaching approaches, curriculum planning, behaviour management, assessment, feedback and reporting.
Academic Leadership
The Academic Leadership program is a 15 hour program for community language school principals, aspiring principals and members of school management committees. Participants will learn how best to support and monitor teachers, how to support new teachers and how to retain teachers. Participants will also learn mentoring and coaching skills. The program includes school visits and time with experienced community school principals as mentors.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASSESSEMENT
This test provides evidence of your language proficiency. It assesses minimum vocational proficiency to the equivalent level of 2-3 years undergraduate study.

BECOME A TEACHER
SICLE is offering a pathway program to teacher accreditation If you are a teacher in a community language school with higher education qualifications and want to become a qualified teacher in Australia by completing a Master of Teaching.
LANGUAGE PROGRESSIONS
The Language learning progressions are classroom/teacher-based assessment tools which bring together teaching and curriculum. They describe student achievement and the development of language learning
